Volunteer with the Blue Water Task Force

The chapter’s Blue Water Task Force needs additional volunteers to sample local creeks and beaches contamination.

We are beginning to embark on the training of new volunteers for BWTF. Trainings will take place at our sampling sites along San Luis Obispo Creek,at Avila Beach and at our lab in the Central Coast Aquarium in Avila Beach on Thursday mornings. Our program collects samples at 11 sites.

Sample collection begins as early as 6:30 a.m. and requires 90 minutes to complete the process, with a two session requirement.

Our program collects samples at 11 sites. We collect samples at Pismo Creek and Beach, Sewers, San Luis Obispo Creek and Avila Beach.

You will need reliable transportation and the ability to commit to sampling a site on a weekly basis. We strive to have multiple volunteers available for any site so that backup coverage is provided.
