Is your garden "Ocean Friendly"? Find out! Join us for an Ocean Friendly Garden Tour on Saturday, June 17, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Join Surfrider SLO Ocean Friendly Gardens and Wes Cooke, owner of the ecological landscape design company Resilience Revival, on a guided walking tour of Indio Drive in Shell Beach.
This guided garden tour will pass by six official Surfrider Ocean Friendly Gardens. See, first hand, real life examples of how you can reduce urban runoff and stormwater pollution, create wildlife habitat, and design beautiful spaces in your own garden.
Park on Beachcomber Dr at the South Palisades Park north staircase. Look for Wes and the Surfrider Foundation flags.
The tour will cover 3/4 of a mile, one way, on foot. We recommend that you bring water, and wear sun protection and comfortable shoes. After the tour, rides back to Beachcomber Drive will be availble.
About Wes:
Wes Cooke has spent the past decade studying all facets of ecological design: landscapes, buildings, energy, and the invisible structures that make up the human existence. Equipped with a master’s degree from Cal Poly in Renewable Energy, several years of involvement in numerous workshops and apprenticeships, and the experience gained in the recent years of owning the ecological landscape design company Resilience Revival, Wes has dedicated his livelihood to learning, teaching, and implementing permaculture practices and ecologically-sound landscapes to benefit the Central Coast.
