In August, the Cambria Community Services District released their Draft Subsequent Environmental Impact Report for their Sustainable Water Facility (formerly constructed as an "emergency" project) and asked for comments. Surfrider Foundation San Luis Obispo sent the following letter:
This letter cites necessary research of a constructed wetland to measurably promote burial of brackish water desal waste WITHOUT dumping that waste into the ocean. We need more wetlands and less desal, more conservation, more reclamation, less ocean pollution.
Our chapter has also advocated against Diablo Canyon ocean desalination. Ocean desalination is expensive, even without the water coming from a nuclear power plant.
