We’ve changed up the Ken Harmount Pier to Pier, now going on its 24th year! Our start and finish will be on the West side of Avila Pier (no longer starting from Dog Beach and ending at Pismo Beach). The turn-around will be at White Rock (off Shell Beach). This change will make the event more user-friendly, logistically and since paddlers will not have to deal with the bigger waves at Pismo. We’re proud to say that Ken Harmount is assisting with the art on this event and the final flyer will be ready soon.
Ken Harmount was a Morro Bay lifeguard until a snowboarding accident changed his life. His friends got together and paddled from Pier to Pier and raised money to help Ken pay for his hospital bills. Ken donated the money to help start the San Luis Bay chapter (now San Luis Obispo Chapter) of the Surfrider Foundation.
