Our Ocean Friendly Gardens (OFG) program partnered with the Atascadero Mutual Water Company and Ron Munds from the County of San Luis Obispo to bring the first Watershed Wise Professional Training to SLO County.
The training was held at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion on June 29 and 30 as a step in both building a qualified workforce and raising awareness about the role of commercial and residential landscaping in water conservation and the prevention of polluted runoff in our waterways.
Thirty-one people attended the training including employees of local water agencies, the Cities of Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach and Templeton, employees of school districts, One Cool Earth, the Upper Salinas Las Tablas RCD, Cal Poly as well as landscape designers, contractors and other green industry professionals.
It was an excellent mix of parties interested in water supply and stormwater pollution prevention and education. We’re currently working on rolling out the next training in the fall.
